Diamond step grinding wheels are abrasives shaped with one or more stepped (tiered) faces or shoulders around the wheel periphery or face. Each “step” is a cylindrical surface (or ring) at a different radius or diameter, formed from a diamond-bonded layer (resin, metal, electroplated or hybrid).Steps can be concentric rings on a face, offset shoulders on the rim, or stacked profiles on cup/segment wheels. They are manufactured to precise step heights, radii and widths so a single wheel can grind multiple diameters, shoulders, bevels, or mating surfaces without changing tools.
